Went to Sakurajima yesterday, it’s an active volcano island.
We took a ferry there 
From the closest view point 
First we rode a bus to the observation post closest to the volcano, about 2-3 kilometers from the peak. The volcano was gently smoking and it was a pleasant temperature.
We visited a shrine on the way to Japan’s longest footbath (100m) and walked through a long forest path.
After our long walk we managed to get a private bath at a hot spring heated by the magma, before riding the ferry back to Kagoshima.
